A further 88 deaths from coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – including eight in Ayrshire.
The grim news comes as another 978 people in the country have tested positive for the disease.
Latest figures from the Scottish Government show that 1871 people are battling COVID-19 in the nation's hospitals – with 128 patients in intensive care.
In the NHS Ayrshire and Arran health board region, a further 82 new cases of coronavirus have been diagnosed.
There are 229 Covid patients in the region's hospitals – down one on yesterday's figures.
A total of 14 people are in ICU, also a reduction of one.
Scotland's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,269.
However, 8,347 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to January 31.
Across Scotland, 649,262 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 8,758 have received their second dose.
