Coronavirus Scotland: 915 die from virus as confirmed cases hit 8,450

A total of 915 people have now died of coronavirus in Scotland – an increase of 12 deaths.

There are now 8,450 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Scotland – a rise of 263.

Of the confirmed cases 1,809 are currently in hospital, an increase of 12.

169 Scots are currently in intensive care units across the country receiving treatment.

The new figures were confirmed at First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s daily press conference at St Andrew’s house.

The news comes as the new hospital, NHS Louisa Jordan, at the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) completed and became ready for patients.

The hospital will have an initial capacity for 300 beds, which can be expanded to more than 1,000 if needed.
