Coronavirus Scotland: 83 more people die from virus as death toll hits 1,703

1,703 people have now died in Scottish hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus, an increase of 83 on Tuesday’s figures.

There has been a rise of 272 people testing positive for the killer virus which takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 12,709.

The numbers released today during the daily Scottish Government press briefing in Parliament also reveal that confirmed or suspected cases in hospital now stand at 1,632 – a decrease of 28.

There was also a decrease in the number of patients in ICU, which currently stands at 89. A reduction of 15 from yesterday.
