Coronavirus Scotland: 49 more people die from virus as hospital death toll hits 1,811

1,811 people have now died in Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus - an increase of 49 compared to Thursday’s figures.

There has been a rise of 225 people testing positive for Covid-19 which takes the number of confirmed cases in the country to 13,149.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon also revealed today that the number of confirmed or suspected cases in hospital now stands at 1,584 - a decrease of three.

There has also been a decrease in the number of patients in ICU, which now stands at 84 - a reduction of two from yesterday.

The figures were revealed during the Scottish Government’s daily coronavirus press briefing at St Andrew’s House in Edinburgh on Friday.

It comes as a top police chief revealed officers will stop cars at the border if they attempt to travel into Scotland from England.
