Coronavirus Scotland: 4,070 Scots have died of confirmed or suspected Covid-19

A total of 4,070 people have died of confirmed or suspected coronavirus in Scotland.

The figures, updated by the National Records of Scotland (NRS), show that these deaths have been officially recorded as of June 14.

The weekly statistics account for all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate.

Figures are different to those released daily during the  Scottish Government’s press briefing as they account for all suspected and probable cases of the virus in hospitals.

The National Record for Scotland updated the figures (Daily Record)

The NRS shows there were 70 deaths related to coronavirus between June 8  and June 14 – which is decrease of 19 on last week (compared June 1 and 7).

46 per cent of deaths occurred in hospitals.

Around 47 per cent of registered deaths were in care homes.

The number of deaths in care homes fell for a seventh week.

While about seven per cent were at home or other forms of non-institutional settings.

77 per cent of all Covid-19  deaths were of people aged 75 or over.

The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland from June 8 to 14 was 1,032. This is a decrease of 61 from the number registered in the previous week (June 1 to 8 was 1,125).
