Coronavirus Scotland: 36 more people die from virus as hospital death toll hits 1,847

1,847 people have now died in Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus  - an increase of 36 compared to Friday’s figures.

There has been a rise of 156 people testing positive for Covid-19 which takes the number of confirmed cases in the country to 13,305.

The Scottish Government also revealed today that the number of confirmed or suspected cases in hospital now stands at 1,585.

There has been an increase in the death rate in Scotland (Daily Record)

There has also been a increase in the number of patients in ICU, which now stands at 93 - a rise of nine from yesterday.

The figures come as a top police chief revealed officers will stop cars at the border if they attempt to travel into Scotland from England.

Already this Bank Holiday weekend a family from London have been stopped trying to sneak into Motherwell for a three-day lockdown holiday.
