Coronavirus Scotland: 255 new cases overnight as additional measures to arrive 'tomorrow'

In the last 24 hours, Scotland has reported a total of 255 new coronavirus cases.

Today, the First Minister warned that "doing nothing is not an option" as the new cases represented a 6.3 per cent of those tested for the virus on Sunday.

As the figures across the country continue to soar, Nicola Sturgeon issued concerns that Scotland is in a similar position to France and stated that "further action will be needed" to control the spread of the virus.

Out of the 255 new cases, 30 have been confirmed to have been in the Lothians, with 103 in Glasgow and 47 in Lanarkshire.

Hospital admissions have also continued to climb as 73 patients were reported to be receiving treatment for COVID-19, with eight of those in an intensive care unit.
