There have been 1,596 new coronavirus cases recorded in Scotland in the last 24 hours - this accounts for 6.3 per cent of newly tested patients.

There are 1,245 people in Scottish hospitals with confirmed Covid-19 and 106 receiving treatment in intensive care.

39 deaths have also been reported in the past 24 hours.

The latest update comes as the UK imposed a travel ban on visitors from Denmark over fears of a new coronavirus strain.

The strain, which has been linked to minks, has been described as a variant with a possible slight resistance to some antibodies.
