Coronavirus Scotland: 1,159 new cases including 459 in Glasgow area

A total of 1,159 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours, including 459 in the Glasgow area.

The Scottish Government confirmed this afternoon no new deaths have been recorded, however, that tends to be standard for a Sunday with registration offices closed over the weekend.

The total number of positive tests since the start of the pandemic now stands at 81,294, with the death toll sadly at 3,280.

100 people are currently in intensive care across Scotland, with 1,241 in hospital.

459 new cases have been recorded in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Region amid anticipation of a possible level 4 lockdown being imposed on our city this week.

As advised by the Scottish Government:

  • 1,159 new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that register offices are now generally closed at weekends) 
  • 100 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 1,241 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 18,732 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 7.2% of these were positive
