Coronavirus scare: UCD student who recently returned from China given all clear

A UCD student who recently returned from China has been given the all clear following a coronavirus scare.

The woman, who lives in the UCD Residences, returned from the Asian country where the original outbreak of the virus begun within the past 14 days.

She contacted the university's student health services after she began to exhibit flu-like symptoms.

The student health services were concerned enough to contact the emergency services.

Images circulated on social media of paramedics attending the scene dressed in full protective clothing leading to panic among students.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was tested for the potentially deadly virus.

She was discharged from hospital this evening.

A spokesman for UCD confirmed to Dublin Live that the woman is now safely back home in her residence and it is has been confirmed she is not suffering from coronavirus.
