Coronavirus: Rod Stewart supports NHS workers as he self-isolates in Florida

Rod Stewart and his brood back our NHS heroes before joining the Clap for Carers from across the Atlantic.

The star was at his Florida home with wife Penny Lancaster, 49, and their sons Alastair, 14, and Aiden, nine.

Rod, who has eight kids, was also joined by son Sean, 39, and daughter Ruby, 32, who earlier enjoyed a sun-soaked walk on the beach with her two dogs.

Rod, 75, said: “Our family want to say a huge thank-you to everyone working in the NHS, as well as to all the healthcare workers and emergency services that are helping keep Britain’s families safe in these extremely difficult times.”

The family then erupted into cheers as they clapped in the video posted onto the musicians Instragram page.

All citizens over the age of 70 must be quarantined for the upcoming months as the UK government fights the pandemic.

Before going into isolation Penny and Rod ensured they said goodbye to their 16 closest pals by throwing a Las Vegas bash for Penny's 49th birthday - which they documented online.

Loose Women’s guest panelist Penny shared her prayers everyone stayed healthy and well in the pandemic alongside the photos.

She wrote: “Thanks to all our friends for coming together to celebrate my birthday during the most unprecedented time we have known.

“Together we stand, together we give thanks and although this might be one of the last get togethers for a while let’s pray we all remain safe and healthy.”

Her sensational snap was met with fans expressing their love and support for the star.

“Happy birthday Penny, stay safe you, Sir Rod, family and friends,” one wrote, among the crowds.

Their final party in Las Vegas marked the end of their stay in the city.
