Coronavirus: Robbie Williams axes one-off Australian gig after flight amid pandemic

Robbie Williams was forced to pull the plug on his one-off Australian gig after flying in amid coronavirus outbreak.

Stars all over the globe from Celine Dion to Madonna have been cancelling their overseas gigs as the deadly bug sweeps the globe in a mass pandemic.

The Angels hitmaker, 46, had no choice but to axe his concert when the Australian government asked for all large gatherings of more than 500 people to be cancelled.

Robbie had made the trip to Melbourne where he was due to perform over the weekend.

He was heaped with praise after he was spotted greeting his legion of loyal fans with his elbows while he was Down Under.

The singer had been scheduled to perform to a large crowd at Lakeside Stadium, in Albert Park on Saturday.

It was his only World Tour 2020 date in Australia.

His one-off gig was going to coincide with the Australian Grand Prix which was also axed.

World Tour Melbourne and live entertainment company TEG-Dainty announced full refunders to ticket holders would be provided following the cancellation.

The statement read: "Following on from the decision of Formula 1 and the FIA, with the support of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) to cancel all Formula 1 activity for the Australian Grand Prix.

"We appreciate that this is very disappointing news for the fans due to attend the show and all ticket holders will receive a full refund and will be contacted by Ticketek shortly."

Elsewhere in Australia, pregnant Katy Perry was allegedly on lockdown in her hotel after cancelling a string of interviews.

Across the globe, her fiancé Orlando Bloom said he had been sent home from filming and ordered into quarantine.

Also in Oz, it was also made public Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus.

The couple have been quarantined while they make their recovery.
