Coronavirus: Richard and Judy stranded in USA following flight bans

Television legends Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have been left stranded in the United States of America after flights were grounded due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 63-year-old Good Morning Britain host and his 71-year-old wife were on holiday in the USA but have become stranded there after the US government made the decision to clamp down on international travel to slow the spread of the deadly virus.

As Judy is over the age of 70, she would fall into the 'at risk' category - with the UK government advising those that age or over to self-isolate for 12 weeks amid the pandemic.

Richard and Judy - who hosted This Morning between 1988 and 2001 - are said to be in high spirits, despite their predicament, according to their 33-year-old son, Jack.

"They are being as stoic and upbeat as can be and figuring things out one day at a time, just like the rest of the country," Jack told the Mail on Sunday.

On Thursday, the US government made the decision to halt flights to and from the USA in an effort to slow the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

"The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel at this time due to the global impact of COVID-19," an official warning declared on Thursday.

"Many areas throughout the world are now experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks and taking action that may limit traveler mobility, including quarantines and border restrictions," they added.

They warned: "U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period."

Richard's fellow Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid has also been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

"One of the boys has a cough, persistent cough, and that came on yesterday," Susanna said as she revealed one of her sons had symptoms - causing the entire family to self-isolate for two weeks.

"We heard from the world health organisation - test, test, test - and here, we're not testing until isolating... it might be just a cough!" she said.

Co-star Piers Morgan joked about Susanna's predicament, accusing the star of using the pandemic as a way to escape sitting beside him each morning.
