Coronavirus: Religious group ignore social distancing rules claiming they're immune

A religious group who think their leader is the the embodiment of Jesus Christ, believe God has made them immune to coronavirus.

Followers are flouting social distancing rules and have held an 11-day meeting together.

Around 40 members of the Divine Pineal Gland Activations religious movement have flown from around the world from countries including Holland, Australia and New Zealand.

They are currently holed up at the Best Western Bell Hotel in Driffield, East Yorkshire, to hear leader Suzanna Emmanuel.

Her followers have flown from countries including  Australia, New Zealand and Holland and were told they can't catch the deadly virus.

A source told the Sun: "I couldn't believe it. It worried me straight away because people shouldn't be meeting up in large crowds like that.

"But one follower told me they were immune. They said they are taken out of the world's 'energy fields' and so can't catch coronavirus.

"Clearly that's bonkers but it's what they believe. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It's clearly posing huge danger to the public and is totally irresponsible."

The UK's coronavirus death roll reached 281 and calls for a full lockdown are increasing.

The UK could be forced under a full lockdown within hours if the public does not heed pleas to stay two metres apart outdoors.

The Prime Minister responded to scenes of huge crowds flocking to Britain’s parks, beaches, and holiday spots on Mother’s Day yesterday.

Boris Johnson  said there was no ban on going outdoors for fresh air - yet - as he told Brits to stay home as much as possible. The UK could be forced under a full lockdown within hours if the public does not heed pleas to stay two metres apart outdoors.

He warned: “I don’t think you need to use your imagination very much to see where we might have to go, and we will think about this very very actively in the next 24 hours.”
