Coronavirus: Public Health Scotland with today's update on 7-day infection rate as new region worst affected

The latest data showing how Covid is continuing to impact Scotland has been published today with the nation's death toll sadly rising once again.

Figures have been produced this afternoon by the Scottish Government as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing with 591 new cases confirmed.

In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Stirling has the new highest infection rate in the country at 136.9 as of Wednesday, March 10.

The second-highest is Clackmannanshire which has a rate of 133.9 with Glasgow City (114.8) moving up to become third-highest. The rate for Scotland is 64.5 and the full list of all councils is just below.

For the three Ayrshire regions, North Ayrshire stood at 80.9. In East Ayrshire, it was 64.7 while it was 47.1 in South Ayrshire.

The figure in South Ayrshire represents a setback since the start of the week as the area had been making excellent progress towards an indicative Tier 1 status.
