Police officers who responded to a crash at New Lambton on Thursday morning have been given the green light to continue working, after a woman involved in the incident was cleared of coronavirus at John Hunter Hospital.
The woman was taken to the hospital after she claimed to have flu-like symptoms when emergency crews attended the scene of the multi-vehicle crash at Carnley Avenue.
Police said the crash involved a vehicle that appeared to be stolen and the woman has since been released from hospital and taken to Newcastle Police Station.
"Emergency services enacted all appropriate hygiene protocols and transported the woman to John Hunter Hospital for assessment," a police spokesperson said.

Multiple people have been taken to hospital following a crash at New Lambton on Thursday morning.
About 8.10am, emergency services responded to reports of a road crash involving multiple vehicles.
It is alleged that two cars collided at the intersection of Orchardtown Road.
Several people have been taken to hospital.
It is understood one of the patients said they had been exposed to COVID-19, prompting paramedics to don protective equipment at the scene.
Some officers who attended are also expected to undergo testing for coronavirus as a matter of protocol.
Police said one of the vehicles involved in the accident is alleged to be stolen.
On arrival, paramedics found a woman in her mid-20s trapped in her vehicle.
They successfully freed her and transported her to John Hunter Hospital, with spinal precautions.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews are also in attendance.
Police said there were no life threatening injuries.
Police have closed Carnley Avenue at the roundabout and traffic diversions are in place.
Tow trucks were on scene at 9.50am and traffic heading towards Kotara was being diverted via Birdwood Street.
