The number of coronavirus patients being treated in ICU has dropped below 10 for the first time in weeks.
Nine patients are currently in intensive care beds in Irish hospitals as of 8pm on Wednesday night.
Cork's Mercy and CUH Hospitals plus Dublin's Mater, Tallaght and Beaumont Hospitals have these ICU patients.
There are a further ten patients on critical care beds across the country that are suspected of having the virus.
In hospitals in total there are just 31 confirmed cases across the country - as of 8pm last night - with the Mater seeing the only confirmed cases in the 24 hours up to that point.
As of 8pm on Wednesday night however there were 121 suspected cases in the hospital system with Limerick, 20, and Beaumont, 19, the busiest.
The coronavirus claimed six more lives in the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday.
It comes as a further five confirmed cases have been recorded by the Department of Health.
There have now been a total of 1,726 deaths linked to the bug in the Republic.
The recent rise in positive cases has brought the total number of infections to 25,396.
Speaking on Wednesday evening, Dr Tony Holohan said: "“Through our collective action, we have moved in the right direction in our fight against widespread community transmission of Covid-19.

"As we go forward, the behaviour and progression of this disease is in all of our hands."
He added: "Every single one of us today has the ability to reduce the impact the virus might have on our most vulnerable and those at risk."
