Coronavirus patient, 27, with no underlying health conditions dies after positive test

A 27-year-old who died of coronavirus had no underlying health conditions, the NHS Trust has said.

The patient passed away at a Nottingham hospital, and his family has been informed, Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals said.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that a significant proportion of the people who died of Covid-19 in one day had no underlying health problems.

In a 24-hour period between April 1 and 2, 44 coronavirus patients without underlying health problems succumbed to Covid-19.

As the virus continues to spread throughout the UK the number of previously healthy people who're dying is increasing.

The UK's youngest coronavirus victim is a 13-year-old schoolboy, it was confirmed earlier this week.

Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, from Brixton, south London, sadly died without any family members close by due to the highly infectious nature of Covid-19.

The teenager, who had no underlying health conditions, died at Kings College Hospital yesterday morning after being put into an induced coma.

The Mohamed family, who sadly also lost their father to cancer, said: "Ismail started showing symptoms and had difficulties breathing and was admitted to Kings College Hospital.

"He was put on a ventilator and then put into an induced coma but sadly died yesterday morning. To our knowledge he had no underlying health conditions. We are beyond devastated."

Another teenager, a 19-year-old, died of coronavirus in the UK despite having no underlying health conditions.

The teenager - chef Luca Di Nicola - was among 28 patients to have been killed despite having no pre-existing health problems.

Before that a 16-year-old French schoolgirl with no underlying medical conditions became the youngest person to die of coronavirus in Europe.

Tributes were paid to the teen, named as Julie A, which described her as "bright and much loved".

She succumbed to respiratory problems in a Paris hospital on Wednesday after first developing a "slight cough" a week ago.

Her sister Manon said she had not suffered from any illnesses beforehand.

Manon spoke out to warn people the virus can affect people of all ages and 'no one is invincible'.

"We must stop believing that his virus only affects the elderly," said her heartbroken sister, Manon.

"No one is invincible against this mutant virus. Julie just had a slight cough last week. It got worse last weekend with mucus and on Monday we went to see a general practitioner.

"It was there that she was diagnosed with respiratory distress. She had no particular illnesses before this."

The UK's coronavirus death toll has soared to 3,605 after 684 patients died in just 24 hours - the biggest single day increase yet.

Scotland and Northern Ireland have reported additional deaths since the Department of Health's daily update, taking the total to 3,663.

The previous total stood at 2,921 deaths.

Most of the deaths have been in England (3,302), followed by Scotland (172), Wales (141) and Northern Ireland (48).

The number of confirmed cases has increased to 38,168 after 4,450 more people tested positive.

Two NHS nurses, who were both mothers in their 30s with three young children, are among the latest patients to die after battling Covid-19 in hospital.

The grim news came as Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who is back at work after battling the virus, said the Government expects the virus to peak in Britain in the next few weeks and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is still infected with Covid-19 and isolating, urged people to stick with social distancing in a bid to flatten the curve.
