French champions Paris Saint-Germain have raised over €250,000 for local healthcare services battling the coronavirus pandemic.
PSG released a limited edition shirt featuring the words ‘Tous Unis’ (All Together) in place of the club’s sponsor as well as other badges pledging support to medics.
The club confirmed they had sold 1,500 jerseys online on Thursday evening, with all the proceeds going to the Assistance Publique Hopitaux de Paris (AP-HP).
“We cannot be grateful enough for the tremendous and courageous work that healthcare staff are doing every day to deal with this emergency,” PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi said.
Martin Hirsch, director general of AP-HP, told the club’s official website: “We’re really grateful for this wonderful gesture. Paris Saint-Germain backing Paris hospitals!
“A white card for this great club supporting the white coats! We’re pulling on the shirt and giving our all! They know what it means. Our goal is to save as many lives as possible.”
