Coronavirus: Paisley hospital's message reaches all corners of the globe

Frontline staff at Paisley’s hospital have shared a heartfelt plea to people to stay at home.

The team working in the Royal Alexandra Hospital’s acute medical team took time out to ask people to heed government advice and stay at home.

Staff doctor Tasha Rose posted the picture to Facebook with staff holding the printed message: “We stay at work for you. Please stay at home for us.”

Other staff are also holding signs saying Team RAH, Team NHS and Team Acute MCD.

The message has generated more than 1,300 shares online since Tasha posted it to her Facebook page with dozens of supportive messages from people thanking the staff for all their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

Tasha told the Paisley Daily Express: “We all appreciate the support so much.

“We’ve had 1,321 shares from my Facebook alone, not too sure from others and I know it went into Instagram and Twitter via other routes.

“We’ve made it to America, Canada, Australia, Africa, Asia and India, which is really quite
crazy!”

NHS staff from hospitals across the UK working on the frontline of the health crisis have been posting similar messages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram since the UK imposed strict rules to try and curb the spread of Covid-19.

Last week people from across Renfrewshire stood on their doorsteps and applauded as part of the Clap for our Carers national appeal.

Joining members of the public were youngsters from Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band who played the pipes in their streets as a mark of national unity and thanks.

Clips of each piper were then put together to one video which was posted
online.

The Scottish Government has launched a volunteer appeal, entitled Scotland Cares, as part of a national effort to support the NHS and other organisations fighting the pandemic.
