Coronavirus outbreaks at North East universities: Take part in our survey

Major concerns have been raised after hundreds of university students tested positive for Covid-19 in the North East.

There have been coronavirus outbreaks at all major universities in the region, including Newcastle, Northumbria, Durham and Sunderland.

The students affected and their close contacts have been asked to isolate in their accommodation. A number of staff members have also been diagnosed with Covid-19.

And on Wednesday, both Newcastle and Northumbria Universities agreed to increase the level of online learning and to keep face to face teaching mainly for priority courses.

They said they were taking this decision on the advice of Newcastle’s director of public health, and in collaboration with Newcastle City Council.

But what do you think of the current situation? Do you think universities should close in light of the rising number of cases and move all learning online?

Was the Government wrong in allowing universities to reopen this term? This is your chance to have your say.
