Coronavirus outbreak leads to massive queues at Glasgow Costco

Glaswegians have been flocking to Costco to stock up on goods amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Massive queues formed outside the warehouse, located in Springburn, prior to it opening its doors at 9.30am this morning.

With one shopper telling Glasgow Live that by 10am there were no trolleys or parking spaces left.

We've also heard reports that Costco staff inside are monitoring the amount of toilet roll purchases people are making, as worried shoppers stockpile essential items.

One person took to Twitter to say: "We tried to enter Costco Glasgow twice in two days but hundreds of customer’s standing go get in, gave up...people are panicking because of coronavirus, shelves are empty in big supermarkets".

While another wrote: "Motorways in Glasgow will be quiet today, everyone is in the queue trying to get in or out of Costco".

The news comes as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Glasgow has risen to 31, with another 10 people officially diagnosed since yesterday.

While in Scotland as a whole there has been a major increase in the number of cases, with 121 now confirmed to have the COVID-19 strain of the disease, according to the Scottish Government - an increase from 85 yesterday.
