Coronavirus outbreak hits Larbert Police Station forcing cops to self-isolate

A number of cops in Falkirk are having to self-isolate after a coronavirus outbreak at police station there.

The national force has four bases in the area, including Falkirk, Grangemouth, Maddiston and Larbert, where the outbreak is.

Bosses say they have "sufficient capacity" to cover sickness if needed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland is following Scottish Government and health guidance and where cases of coronavirus are identified, we work with the local health board and adhere to Test and Protect procedures.

"We have sufficient capacity and as a national service Police Scotland can flex resources should there be a requirement to do so."

NHS Forth Valley says all appropriate action is being taken and that Track and Trace is well underway.

In a statement, the health board said: "NHS Forth Valley’s Test and Protect team is currently carrying out Covid-19 contact tracing after a number of staff working at Larbert Police Station have tested positive for coronavirus.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality no further details will be given."
