A 13-year-old Co Derry boy in isolation due to the Coronavirus outbreak has celebrated his birthday with a drive-by.
Ger McFlynn from Maghera, on the bottom of the Glenshane pass, celebrated his birthday standing in his garden when a flurry of cars suddenly start driving past beeping their horns.
Ger's local GAA club Watty Graham's, Glen shared the video on their Twitter and Facebook pages.
As the cars begin hooting their horns, Ger can be seen waving as his mother, Aideen says: "Say hello to everybody, Ger."
The video has gone viral in the North West, earning more than 5,000 views and hundreds of likes and comments from people sharing their birthday wishes to Ger.
Ger's dad, Paul McFlynn told Belfast Live that the family were not expecting the "brilliant" turnout.
He said: "My wife told a few people and we thought that her family and members of mine would drive past, so seven or eight cars at most.
"But we shared it on a few Whatsapp groups and it spread like wild fire."
Over 68 cars turned out to congratulate Ger, who has autism, on his special day.
Paul said the St Patrick's Mahgera pupil has been finding it difficult to adapt during the Coronavirus lockdown.
He added: "I wouldn't say he is coping with it the best to be honest.
"Ger is very social, almost to the point that he would be very close asking you everything about someone.
"He loves going to school and mixing with others but he doesn't understand why he can't go back just now.
"He understands what Coronavirus is but he can't quite get why he can't be with others right now.
"And he knows everybody in Maghera, probably more people than and his mother.
"To see that turn out on last Saturday was brilliant, it lifted his spirits and we can't thank everybody enough."
