Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Three further Covid-19 deaths recorded by Department of Health

The Department of Health has reported a further three deaths linked to coronavirus.

Saturday's dashboard update showed the death toll in Northern Ireland to now stand at 2,029.

And as of 10am on Saturday, February 20, the Department says the number of individuals who have tested positive for the virus is 110,716.

The Department reported a daily increase in new positive cases by 276 - and a weekly increase by 2,070.

There are currently 47 coronavirus patients in ICU across Northern Ireland.

Yesterday it was announced that all carers are eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine in Northern Ireland.

Health Minister Robin Swann opened the scheme to anyone who is the main support for the elderly and disabled.

He urged them to book a jab online at one of the seven health trust centres.

He said: "Carers play a vital role in our society and are essential to those they look after.

"Should a carer fall ill, the needs and welfare of those they care for could be put at risk."

Nearly half a million vaccines have been administered so far and in total 466,524 doses have been given.
