Coronavirus Northern Ireland: School providing children on free school meals packed lunches for home

A Downpatrick Primary School has offered parents of pupils receiving free school dinners packed lunches to take home during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

St Colmcille's Primary School, Co Down said the lunch packs will consist of sandwiches, fruit and a drink, and can be collected by an adult every week day whilst the school remains open.

They issued a statement to parents through their social media pages on Tuesday.

It said: "Please PM/call the school, before 11am each day with your child’s name and choice of chicken, ham or cheese filling, if you wish to avail of this service, so that we can have enough packs prepared.

"There will be a collection point at the front of the school from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

"Perhaps you could work together as a community and send one adult over to collect on behalf of others who cannot get out. Each pack will have the child’s name on it and all allergies will be taken into account. #communityspirit."
