Coronavirus Northern Ireland: No further deaths and 87 new cases recorded by DoH

No further coronavirus related deaths have been reported by the Department of Health.

According to the DoH's latest update, the death toll from coronavirus in Northern Ireland remains at 2,155.

Monday's dashboard also reports a further 87 positive cases of Covid-19 since yesterday, bringing the total number of positive cases to 123,866 since the start of the pandemic.

They also announced that a total of 1,865,635 vaccines have been administered in Northern Ireland to date.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 694 individuals have tested positive.

There are currently 15 Covid-19 confirmed inpatients in hospital with none in intensive care.

Health Minister Robin Swann has announced new services to help patients in Northern Ireland suffering from long Covid.

He said that providing appropriate services for patients experiencing long-term effects of coronavirus is an “essential part of building back services”.

Elements of the new service will also include: bespoke pulmonary rehabilitation; follow up services for patients discharged from critical care, strengthening psychology support to all Trusts; and signposting and access to self-management resources.

Minister Swann said: “Covid-19 has presented many challenges, not least for our health service. And whilst we will continue to live with Covid-19 for some time yet, we need to focus on rebuilding our services in a post-covid era. That is a challenge. That is the legacy of Covid-19. We need to build back better and stronger than before and to deal with the issues coming our way post-pandemic.

“Providing appropriate assessments and treatments for patients who are experiencing long-term effects of Covid-19 is an essential part of building back services.”
