Coronavirus Northern Ireland latest figures broken down by council area

Today's latest statistics released by the Department of Health have confirmed a further four people have died here due to Coronavirus.

Two of the latest deaths occurred in the past 24 hours while the other two were only reported but occurred outside the current 24 hour period.

According to the report, three of the four latest fatalities were aged 80 and over with one in the 60-79 age category.

The latest deaths occurred in Belfast (1), Mid and East Antrim (3), Newry, Mourne and Down (1) and Causeway Coast and Glens (2) - three deaths recently recorded as 'not known' have now been attributed to the aforementioned councils.

At present there are 656 patients in 19 hospitals across NI battling Coronavirus, that's a decrease of 43 patients in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 26 patients with confirmed or suspected Covid-19 in ICU.

The South Eastern Trust hospitals currently have the highest number of Covid-19 inpatients (189).

A further 50 people have tested positive for Coronavirus here bringing the overall number of positive cases to date to 3,984.

An additional 1,054 have been tested in the last 24 hours for the virus and in addition to that a further 739 samples have been taken at National Testing Centres.

Belfast council remains the area with the highest number of positive cases to date (1,217) followed by Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (403). Fermanagh and Omagh have the fewest positive confirmed cases in NI (75).

To date, Covid-19 has claimed 422 lives in Northern Ireland.
