Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Full breakdown shows one further death and 78 positive cases

One further Coronavirus related death and 78 new positive cases have been reported by the Department of Health.

The latest figures, released Wednesday September 9, show 568 people have now died after testing positive for the virus in Northern Ireland.

The number of Covid-19 cases here has now topped 8000, at 8,035.

In the past seven days, 599 people have tested positive.

There have also been 5,492 tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 13 Covid-19 patients in hospital, and two in intensive care.

A total of 1,582 patients have been discharged from hospital after being admitted with the virus.

The Belfast area has had 177 new cases in the past seven days - the highest of any local government area in NI.

Lisburn and Castlereagh was second, with 76 new cases.

Belfast has also had the highest number of cases since the outbreak began with 2,004 along with 162 deaths, according to the Department's figures.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon has had 972 cases, followed by Mid and East Antrim with 743 and Lisburn and Castlereagh with 719.

A total of 269,001 tests have been carried out since the pandemic began.
