Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Full breakdown shows most new cases in 20-39 age group in last week

There have been no further Coronavirus deaths reported by the Department of Health.

Figures released today, Sunday, September 6, show 106 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 since yesterday.

This brings the number of positive cases in Northern Ireland to 7,727.

A total of 530 people have been given positive results for Coronavirus in the past seven days, with the 20-39 age group having the most new cases (220).

Figures also indicate 3,518 tests have been carried out in the last 24 hours.

The Department's daily dashboard update shows 564 people have passed away since the start of the pandemic here up to Friday, after testing positive for the virus.

There are currently 17 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital across Northern Ireland and three in intensive care.

A total of 1,568 patients have been discharged from hospital after being admitted with the virus.

The Belfast area has seen the largest increase in positive infections in the past seven days, with 186 people contracting the virus.

Belfast has also had the highest number of positive cases since the outbreak began with 1,921. Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon has seen 942 positive test results followed by Mid and East Antrim with 702.

The death toll shown by the Department currently stands at 564, of which 162 have been in the Belfast area.

A total of 253,943 tests have been carried out with 7,727 people testing positive since the outbreak began.
