Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Five Covid-19 related deaths recorded as weekly cases fall below 1,000

The Department of Health reported five further coronavirus related deaths on Tuesday.

According to the latest dashboard update, the death toll in Northern Ireland stands at 2,115.

Tuesday's daily update also outlines a further 151 positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of positive cases to 117,166 since the pandemic began.

In the past seven days, the Department says 998 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland, which is a decrease in cases from last week.

There are currently 18 patients with coronavirus in ICU in Northern Ireland, according to the Department's figures.

Meanwhile, no prosecutions have been recommended over alleged breaches of Covid-19 regulations last year at the funeral of senior republican Bobby Storey.

The Public Prosecution Service (PPS) director of public prosecutions Stephen Herron said he acknowledged "widespread public concern" around events on June 30, 2020.

However he said the regulations had become "extremely difficult to navigate" with 10 different amendments.
