Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports six further deaths and 570 new cases

The Department of Health has reported a further six coronavirus related deaths.

Tuesday's dashboard update shows the death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 730.

And in the last 24 hours, a total of 570 new positive cases have been reported.

This rise brings the total number of cases here since the beginning of the pandemic to 40,179.

The Department's figures also show that in the last seven days, 4,629 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19.

As of this morning, there are 51 coronavirus patients in ICU.

Meanwhile, the PSNI has revealed that hundreds of police officers are off-duty due to  Covid-19.

It is understood that 652 officers are currently absent due to the virus, with 570 of these having to self-isolate.

It comes as 1,775 fines have been handed out to those breaching Covid-19 restrictions since March.
