Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports seven further deaths and 420 new cases

The Department of Health has reported a further seven coronavirus related deaths.

Sunday's dashboard update showed these deaths to have occurred in the last 24 hour reporting period.

Northern Ireland's coronavirus related death toll stands at 781.

The Department also reported a daily rise in positive cases by 420 - bringing the total number of cases in Northern Ireland to 42,917.

In the last seven days, a total of 3,909 individuals have tested positive for the virus.

And at present, there are 55 patients with Covid-19 in ICU.

Meanwhile, four student PSNI officers have tested positive for the virus.

The Police College Northern Ireland in Garnerville has closed for deep cleaning, it was announced on Sunday.

Head of the Police College, Chief Superintendent Emma Bond said there are an additional 15 student officers who have been required to self-isolate - all confirmed cases are confined to one course of student officers.

“We became aware of the first positive case of Covid 19 on Saturday morning and swiftly initiated our contact tracing process and business continuity plan," Superintendent Bond added.

“There are currently four student officers who have tested positive and I wish them a speedy recovery. These are the first confirmed positive cases of Covid 19 concerning student officers since the beginning of the pandemic.
