Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports four further deaths and 234 new cases

The Department of Health has reported a further four coronavirus-related deaths.

Monday's dashboard update shows the death toll in Northern Ireland to now stand at 2,000.

And the daily figures also show a 24-hour rise in cases of the virus by 234.

This increase brings the total number of positive cases of coronavirus in Northern Ireland to 109,147 since the beginning of the pandemic.

There have been 805,772 individuals tested for the virus as of Monday morning, the Department added.

The Northern Ireland coronavirus dashboard shows that there are currently 59 patients with Covid-19 in ICU.

And there are 477 Covid-19 inpatients in hospitals across Northern Ireland.

The Executive will spend this week in talks about the current restrictions.

A decision regarding whether measures can be lifted is expected on Thursday afternoon.

Last week, First Minister Arlene Foster said the current coronavirus figures have given her confidence for the year ahead and assured that the Covid-19 restrictions would not be in place "a moment longer than needed".
