Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports 20 further deaths in last 48 hours

The Department of Health has reported a further 20 coronavirus related deaths in the last 48 hours.

According to the latest figures released on Twitter on Monday, a further 1,634 people have also tested positive for the virus.

The full dashboard of statistics including the number of patients in hospital and ICU beds will not be updated until December 29 the Department has said.

Meanwhile, the PSNI said they will not stop evening taxi services where they are "clearly operating in an essential manner".

It comes following confusion over the latest Covid-19 restrictions after a Belfast taxi firm was forced to close.

Taxi drivers were stopped at checkpoints in the city last night and told to stop working after 8pm or they would face a fine.
