Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports 14 further deaths linked to virus

The Department of Health has reported a further 14 coronavirus related deaths.

On Tuesday's dashboard update, the death toll in Northern Ireland had risen to 1,073.

And a daily increase of 351 in positive cases of the virus was recorded, bringing the total number of cases to 55,795.

These new figures also showed data from the last seven days and 2,958 positive cases have been recorded in this time frame.

According to the Department's figures, there are 28 coronavirus patients in ICU, as of Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, the first Covid-19 vaccine was administered in Belfast on Tuesday morning.

A Co Down nurse was the first person in Northern Ireland to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Sister Joanna Sloan, from Dundrum, is in charge of Covid vaccination for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

She received the jab at the Royal Victoria Hospital in West Belfast on Tuesday morning.

The 28-year-old told PA Media: "I feel privileged and honoured and a little bit emotional that we have got here - very, very grateful."
