Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Department of Health reports 12 further deaths

There has been a daily rise in positive cases of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland by 1,801, according to the Department of Health.

The total number of positive cases of the virus now stands at 79,873 and over the last seven days the Department has recorded 12,507 new cases.

On Monday's dashboard update, a further 12 deaths related to coronavirus were also reported - ten of which occurred in the last 24 hours.

This brings the death toll in Northern Ireland to 1,366, as of Monday morning.

And there are 39 Covid-19 patients in ICU at present.

Meanwhile, Eileen Lynch, 94, gave the thumbs up after becoming one of the first people in Northern Ireland to receive the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

It was delivered at a GP surgery on the Falls Road in West Belfast on Monday afternoon.

Up to 11,000 people aged over 80 are set to receive the vaccination this week.
