Coronavirus Northern Ireland death toll rises to 82 as four more fatalities confirmed

A further four people have died in Northern Ireland due to Coronavirus.

The latest figures from the Public Health Agency also show a rise in positive cases of 138.

A total of 1,477 people are confirmed to have the deadly virus in Northern Ireland as of today.

Of 81 deaths with data, the median age was 81 years old of which 39 (48%) were female and 42 (52%) were male.

The deaths come as lockdown measures are likely to be extended beyond three weeks.

The first wave of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland is expected to impact here between April 6 and April 20, the Department of Health said.

The public have been asked not to be tempted by the good weather this week and been told to stay at home over the Easter weekend.

Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey said yesterday that the restrictions would remain in place to reduce the peak of the infectious disease and save lives.
