Coronavirus Northern Ireland breakdown shows 4,498 new cases in last week

The Department of Health reported a further ten coronavirus related deaths on Wednesday afternoon.

Figures show these ten deaths which have been linked to the virus by the Department, occurred within the last 24 hour reporting period.

Northern Ireland's coronavirus related death toll stands at 740 as of Wednesday at 10am.

In the DoH's dashboard update, it shows more patients aged over 80 (459) have died after testing positive for Covid-19.

One patient aged between 0-19 has died, two patients in the 20-39 age bracket, 32 aged 40-59 and 245 aged between 60 and 79.

The Department records one death as 'Not Known' for the age breakdown.

Of the 740 reported coronavirus related deaths, setting breakdown shows 511 occurred in hospital, 192 in a residential or care home, 22 in the community and 15 'Not Recorded'.

On the Department's most up to date figures, a daily rise in positive cases of the virus was recorded to be 679.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 40,858 positive cases

And in the last seven days, 4,498 individuals tested positive for Covid-19.

By Local Government District (LGD), this daily rise in new cases has more in Belfast (151) than in any other district.

The Fermanagh and Omagh district has the lowest number of positive cases (24) in this reporting period.

The Department's breakdown also shows positive cases by postcode, and the postcode most affected in the last week is BT48, with 242 new positive cases reported.

This is followed by BT47 (224), BT71 (165), BT80 (164) and BT45 (154).

In the last seven days, from October 28 to November 3, the Department reports a rise in cases of Covid-19 by 4,498.

Breaking this figure down by ages shows the 20-39 age bracket to have recorded the highest number of cases (1,541) followed by 40-59 (1,396), 60-79 (655), 0-19 (587) and 80+ (319).

As of Wednesday morning, there are 418 coronavirus inpatients across 20 hospital sites in Northern Ireland.

And 50 Covid-19 confirmed patients are in ICU - 42 of whom are on ventilators.
