Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Breakdown of most recent figures from Department of Health

There have been no further Coronavirus deaths today according to the Department of Health.

A further nine people tested positive in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of positive cases in Northern Ireland to 5,930.

A total of 75 people have been given positive results for Covid-19 in the past seven days.

The Newry, Mourne and Down area has seen the largest increase in positive infections in the past seven days, with 24 people contracting the virus.

Belfast has had the highest number of positive cases with 1,425 and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon has had the second most with 760.

The death toll currently stands at 556, 162 of these in the Belfast area.

The DoH says that 333 of the deaths have happened in a hospital setting, 187 in residential/care homes, 21 in the community and a further 15 are not recorded.

1,497 patients have been discharged from hospital after being admitted with the virus and there are currently five inpatients in hospitals across Northern Ireland.

There are two Covid-19 patients in intensive care in hospital.

139,797 tests have been carried out with 5,930 people testing positive since the outbreak began.
