Coronavirus Northern Ireland: Breakdown of most recent figures from Department of Health

There have been no further deaths from the coronavirus today according to the Department of Health.

Nine more people have tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who have contracted it to 5,921.

The death toll from Covid-19 currently stands at 556 after no new deaths were reported today.

The DoH says that 333 of the deaths have happened in a hospital setting, 187 in residential/care homes, 21 in the community and a further 15 are not recorded.

Belfast has had the highest number of positive cases with 1,424 and Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon has had the second most with 759.

The Newry, Mourne and Down area has seen the largest increase in positive infections in the past seven days, with 22 people contracting the virus.

1,497 patients have been discharged from hospital after being admitted with the virus and there are currently five inpatients in hospitals across Northern Ireland.

Two coronavirus patients are being treated in an intensive care unit.

138,615 tests have been carried out with 5,921 people testing positive since the outbreak began.
