Coronavirus Northern Ireland: 74 new positive tests and one further death

There has been one further death due to Covid-19 according to the Department of Health.

The Department's daily dashboard says that there has been 74 new positive cases in the past 24 hours, with 242 people testing positive for the virus in the past week.

There has now been 558 as a result of the coronavirus in Northern Ireland.

6,299 people have tested positive for Covid-19 since the outbreak began.

The Mid and East Antrim area has seen the largest increase in cases in the past seven days, with 55. This is followed by Belfast where there has been 52 new cases and the Antrim and Newtownabbey area with 42.

In the past fortnight Mid and East Antrim has seen the largest increase in positive tests with 75, followed by Belfast with 73 and Newry, Mourne and Down with 61.

335 people have passed away in a hospital setting, 187 in a residential or care home, 21 in the community and the location of 15 deaths is not recorded.

There are currently seven inpatients in hospital with Covid-19 and one patient is in intensive care.

1,540 people have been admitted to hospital with the virus and 1,517 have been discharged.

There are currently three confirmed Covid-19 outbreaks in care homes and five suspected ones. There have been 186 acute respiratory outbreaks in care homes.

A total of 169,430 individuals have been tested for the virus to date.
