Coronavirus Northern Ireland: 571 PSNI staff now off work as public fines reach 3690

A total of 571 PSNI staff are now absent from work as a result of coronavirus.

Police said in their latest statistical bulletin that 477 of them are self-isolating on a service-wide basis, while the service has now issued a total of 3690 fines across NI to those breaching virus regulations.

They said they were unable to give a breakdown on the number of staff off in each district, but have provided a full list of fines.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The PSNI will continue to flex its resources to meet policing demand across Northern Ireland as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping people safe."

From March, the Police Service has also issued thousands of fines to those not following restrictions.

They include:

1159 Community Resolution Notices

1983 COV1 Penalty Notices, for over 18s

500 COV2 fines - 86 Commercial / 414 Private. These are prohibition notices issued to licensed premises or for restriction of gatherings in a private dwelling.

48 COV3 - Failure to Isolate notices (£1,000 fine)

The PSNI has also broken down the fines handed out in each police district from March to midnight on Sunday. Police says the figures are provisional, and are subject to change.
