Coronavirus Northern Ireland: 24 new positive cases of Covid-19

The Department of Health has released figures showing 24 new positive cases of Covid-19 in Northern Ireland in the past 24 hours.

In a statement they said: "As of 6pm on Tuesday 24 March, testing has resulted in 24 new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Northern Ireland to 172.

"To date, five people who tested positive have sadly died.

"A patient who was in their eighties and had underlying health conditions has sadly died at Antrim Hospital.

"In addition, an earlier death has also been confirmed as Covid-19 related."

A total number of 2989 Coronavirus tests have been carried out in Northern Ireland.
