Coronavirus Northern Ireland: 24 further Covid-19 related deaths reported by DoH

There have been 24 further Covid-19 related deaths according to the Department of Health.

The deaprtment's daily dashboard says 17 people have passed away in the past 24 hours as a result of the virus and seven have died outside of the recording period.

It brings the death toll in Northern Ireland to 1,649 as of 10am on January 19.

A further 713 positive tests have also been recorded in the past 24 hours, with 6,092 in the past week.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon have had the highest number of positive tests in the past 24 hours, with 179, followed by Belfast with 121.

There are currently 842 inpatients in hospital infected with the virus. 223 patients were in the Belfast Trust, 205 at the Northern, 202 at Southern, 110 at Western and 102 at the South Eastern Trust.

70 patients with Covid-19 are in intensive care and 57 of these are using ventilators. There are 36 unoccupied ICU beds.

Northern Irish hospitals are currently at 97 per cent occupancy rate, with 96 unccoupied beds and 98 patients awaiting admission
