Coronavirus NI: No deaths reported in last 48 hours

No further Coronavirus deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland in the last 48 hours.

The Department of Health say 109 new cases of the virus have been detected in the same time period.

The DoH issued the update on social media on Sunday following technical difficulties which meant there were no new figures released to the public on Saturday, May 15.

The death toll due to Coronavirus according to the DoH remains at 2,149.

The latest information from the health body also indicates that to date, 1,548,336 vaccines have administered in total across Northern Ireland.

The full Dashboard will be updated online again on Monday to include details regarding hospital admissions, care home outbreaks and postcodes with the highest number of current active cases.

Meanwhile on Saturday, police warned they would be monitoring gatherings across Belfast for suspected Covid breaches.

In a brief statement, the PSNI said they are “aware of crowds gathering in Belfast’s Shankill area and a number of events are planned for this afternoon”.

They added: “Police are in the area and we would remind those involved about the importance of adhering to the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations. We will gather evidence of potential breaches and those responsible for them.

“Investigations will follow and where appropriate, enforcement action may be taken in the coming days.”
