The First and Deputy First Minister have posted their Christmas messages on social media.
The videos come ahead of new restrictions coming into place at 12.01am on December 26.
First Minister Arlene Foster said: "We know that this year has been far from normal. An invisible threat that we barely knew about last Christmas is ravaging the world.
"We are living through a health crisis, social crisis and economic crisis, yet as we gather together for one day this Christmas we can do so with some hope.
"Right now NI has the highest vaccination rate in the United Kingdom and indeed the world.
"We will still face moments of despair and worry but now we have our long path back to normality..."

Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill said: "2020 has reminded us all of the importance of our family, friends and of community, of supporting and looking out for those who most need it...
"Christmas is also a time to look forward, to the dawning of a New Year and we have much to look forward to. 2021 will be a year of hope..."

The Public Health Agency said: "It is important to be aware of the guidance on mixing over the Christmas holidays and to keep following the public health advice for Covid-19 to keep us all safe .– these steps may seem simple, but they are effective in reducing the spread."
NI Direct said in a tweet: "This Christmas many older & more vulnerable people may decide not to meet up with friends & family due to the risks of Covid-19.
"Look out for those who may be feeling lonely - make time to talk and a phone call could make someone’s day."
