Coronavirus NI: 3 deaths and over 1,400 cases in last 24 hours

Three further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland.

The death toll from the Department of Health now stands at 2,921.

A further 1,446 positive Covid cases have also been recorded in NI on Saturday.

The full dashboard is not set to be updated until Monday, December 13 but in a tweet, the DoH said that 3,195,368 vaccines have been administered in total.

Meanwhile, several new options have been introduced to enable people to prove their Covid certification status.

Covid certification came into effect in Northern Ireland on Monday, November 29, in a bid to limit transmission in higher-risk settings.

And from Friday, December 10, several new methods of proving status have been announced by the Department of Health.

These include digital recovery certificates, which are now available through the COVIDCert NI app. The certificates provide official confirmation of a positive Covid PCR between 30 days and 180 days ago, which is one way of accessing designated settings such as pubs and licensed restaurants.

Individuals who have already activated the travel certificate in their COVIDCert NI app, and have had a positive PCR test in the 30 to 180-day timeframe, will be able to use the recovery certificate option.
