Coronavirus news update: Death toll on island of Ireland nears 1,400 as the North releases latest figures

A further 10 people have sadly died in Northern Ireland after contracting coronavirus.

The latest figures released on Monday afternoon from Department of Health brings the death toll in the North to 309.

A further 66 positive cases of Covid-19 have also been identified in the region bringing the total number of cases to 3,374.

And an additional 557 patients have been tested for the virus between April 25 and 26.

This brings the total number of deaths on the island of Ireland to 1,396.

There are also 19,262 confirmed cases of the infection in the Republic, meaning more than 22,500 people have tested positive for the bug in Ireland.
