Coronavirus: More than 1,300 cases confirmed in Bristol in one week despite lockdown

More than 1,300 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across Bristol in one week despite nearly a month of lockdown.

The latest figures from the Department of Health show our city's daily cases and deaths have been falling, but still remain high.

A further three deaths, and 197 positive lab tests were confirmed in Bristol over the past 24 hours (February 1).

Between January 22 to 27, a total of 1,311 cases were reported in Bristol. This brought our Covid rate per 100,000 people to 282.9 - slightly below England's average of 294.2.

Two more people have died in Bath and North East Somerset after contracting the virus, this district reported 42 new cases on Monday.

Another death was confirmed in South Gloucestershire, where 85 more infections were reported. And North Somerset reported one death and 37 new cases.

The breakdown of new cases

The daily rise in cases for each part of the region is recorded below, with the total figure during the pandemic in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: +42 (7,477)

  • Bristol: +197 (27,095)

  • North Somerset: +37 (8,898)

  • South Gloucestershire: +89 (13,199)

UK cases

A further 406 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the UK - the lowest daily death rise since December 28.

And a total of 18,607 Covid-19 new cases were recorded today - down by 3,588 on last Monday and the lowest since December 15.
